The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia agreed to provide a soft loan of Saudi Riyal 75 million (Rs 2.2 billion) for the construction of an Epilepsy Hospital and a supplementary loan of Saudi Riyal 11 million (Rs 320 million ) for the construction of a Neuro-Trauma Centre at the Colombo General Hospital. The two loans will be provided through the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD).

The new Epilepsy Hospital will be a specialised facility for epilepsy patients with a capacity of 242 beds and facilities required for intensive care and inpatient care treatment.
